Bordered by SF's civic center and performing arts district, Hayes Valley is part neighborhood, part ultra-chic shopping destination. Tucked inbetween taller apartment buildings, are small galleries and restaurants, thoughtfully designed store-fronts and boutique shops.
Of note, the Hayes Valley neighborhood association banned chain stores, preserving the area's local flavor.
And, the new Hayes Green Park has opened up where the old freeway had collapsed in 1992, creating a great green space, just steps away from the famed, Blue Bottle Coffee Kiosk on Linden.
