En route to an amazing dinner at Spruce last week, we stumbled upon a new vintage store opening up in Laurel Heights - Decades of Styles. Placing a hat on one of the storefront manequins was co-owner, Springer Teich, who gave a quick tour of her and partner, Cicely Ann Hansen's excellent collection of vintage and couture clothing.
Hanging from the walls were ballet tutus that looked like they'd been stripped off professional ballet dancers. Turns out they had - one was from a very early performance of the SF Ballet's Nutcracker. Staged in one section was the coolest collection of kids' clothes and shoes. It looked like Howdy Doody and Princess SummerFallWinterSpring had donated their Sunday best for resale - the real deal!
Springer's friend, John Leibbran, was lending a hand in the placement of some final items that had not yet found a home in the well arranged racks and shelves. His donation to the collection is a fabulous art piece fashioned from a boar's head in the store's front window. Check regularly for new window dressings and his super cool artwork.
Prices seemed reasonable (this observation from people who make less than $40k a year) given how lovely the clothes and how high end the labels were. If you're in the market for a great kids' gift, stunning evening or wedding gown, sassy pair of vintage shoes or a remarkable hat, stop in to visit Decades of Styles!
