Best Holiday Gift Ideas in San Francisco

Best Holiday Gift Ideas in San Francisco

For those of you who grew up in families that started shopping for holiday gifts in July, here's a slightly more reasonable head-start for some super cool gift ideas in the Bay Area.  Feel free to forward your own great ideas to ScanFrancisco and this list will grow!

1. Surprise that special someone with a romantic gourmet home-cooked meal without doing all the work.  Carolyn Davis makes it possible as your go-to chef. She designs mouth-watering menus created with your tastes in mind, prepares the meal in your home, and can serve you and your loved one a 4-course meal (clean up included)! She'll even set the table if you aren't sure where the forks and knives go. Wine pairing suggestions are offered as well. Relax this holiday season and let Carolyn take care of the cooking for you! Email Carolyn for more info: (carolyn.peters@gmail.com)

2. Lotta Coffey - Designer cards, not caffeine.  Holy moly are these the cutest cards we've ever seen.  Or maybe we're just suckers for animated barnyard and jungle animals?  For those of you who are more sophisticated that us, there are also stunning floral design cards made by designer, Lotta Coffey (yes she married landscape designer/writer, Geoffrey Coffey).  Lotta also makes custom wedding invites, baby announcements and personalized stationery.

3. Scary Cow Gift Cards!  What the heck are those?  Pre-paid gift cards to join Scary Cow, a community based & community financed movie production company.  You can support your kid/best friend/lover as she/he learns to make films with other SF moviemakers and (hopefully) get a Scary Cow budget to get them produced!

4. Meat! (Probably not the best thing for your vegetarian friends.  You may have heard of CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture) for fruits and veggies.  You sign up in advance to support a farm for a period of time and each week or month you get a box of farm fresh seasonal produce delivered to your door (or your neighbor's door.)   Well now you can do the same with meat!  Local poultry hogs and cattle raised on organic pastures at Clark Summit Farm in Tomales.
