Deathguild Thunderdome Fundraiser

Deathguild Thunderdome Fundraiser

Days Since Last Injury - ZERO

Such is displayed, on a sign tacked onto a giant geodesic dome, modeled after the one in Mad Max, Beyond the Thunderdome. From the top of the 40 foot dome, are suspended various ropes and bungie cords, to which brave opponents will attach themselves and go at one another, with giant foam padded instruments for bludgeoning.  What fun!

Having never been to Burning Man (I know I know, you all say I would LOVE it!) I was like a kid in a post punk goth candy store, when I got invited to witness the set up of the most recent Death Guild Thunderdome fundraiser.  How many parties boast booze, beer, industrial opera and fire arts? (Actually in SF? Quite a few.)  But I'd never been to such a party, where the setting was a marvelous junk-yard (AKA Ace Auto Dismantling), filled with crashed cars, Streetfighter bikes, and dozens of black-clad punked out friendly people, all on task, staging a fundraiser.

The Death Guild brings to SF, the longest running goth club where, " goth, industrial, ambient, noise, hard industrial synth-pop, swirly weird stuff, and more...." can be enjoyed, at the Glas Kat, on Monday nights.  The Thunderdome is errected at Burning Man each year, where it entertains both brave and leery burners.  Proceeds from these, and other Burning Man fundraiser parties, assure that all the amazing art will make it to Black Rock Desert.
